how to put makeup on your eyes

My secrets to a great eye lie in eyeshadow primer (a must for anyone with greasy eyelids!), a pricey eyeshadow (drugstore brands just don’t give you a rich enough pigment in my opinion. I am into Christian Dior at the moment), putting just a dab of light cream in the inside corner of my eye and heating up my eyelash curler with a blowdryer for a couple seconds so the curl is “set” better. The directions below are full of these tips and more. It really only takes 8 steps to gorgeous eye makeup. For tips on evening makeup, see my article How to Make Up Eyes & Face for Evening. Difficulty: Easy Time Required: 10 minutes Here’s How: Prep your eyes with concealerConcealer can be used to cover up under-eye circles or just the bluish discoloration just under your inner eye. Pat, never rub with your ring finger (this […]

hypoallergenic makeup

Products that fall under this category are less likely to cause allergic reactions and are meant to be gentler and safer on skin than other products. Other bonuses associated with using hypoallergenic makeup include fewer breakouts and a decrease in clogged pores. It is a wise choice to switch to more natural products and ingredients because anything you put on your face, your skin absorbs, which is why you want to avoid anything that has harsh chemicals and other artificial ingredients. When shopping for hypoallergenic makeup, you may notice that some cosmetics contain zinc oxide and titanium oxide, which are considered relatively safe. However, when these products are micronized (meaning that the particles are made smaller and finer), the makeup is then able to enter the cells of your body, which can lead to irritation and rashes. Cleure is one company that offers a line of hypoallergenic products that are […]

free makeup samples without surveys

But we don’t love having to fill out an annoying survey every time we want to try out a new beauty product. Since a lot of freebie beauty offers require you to participate in a survey or some other type of questionnaire, getting free makeup samples can end up being pretty time consuming if you’re not careful. Although some of the other offers are still worth signing up for, this list of questionnaire-free offers can be a convenient resource for those wishing to find the very most hassle-free makeup and beauty samples. Free samples are great. Spare me please. When I look for samples, I want a list of only those free sample offers that don’t make me answer a bunch of questions. It helps to renew your skin, leaving you with younger, fresher looking skin. To get the offer, head over to their Facebook page and click on the […]

how to apply makeup correctly

Makeup done well can make eyes pop, it can plump up a wrinkled face and play down a large nose. In this article, I’ll show you how to apply makeup, what order it should be applied in and I’ll share some of my favorite tricks along the way. Is There an Order to Applying Makeup? I don’t believe in beauty rules, only tricks (although when I first started writing, I was all about rules, but I’ve softened my stance). After a good sunscreen (at least SPF 30), you should start with moisturizer, a rich facial balm (if it’s winter) or a foundation primer to plump up skin and fill in fine lines and large pores. Dot a pink- or peach-colored corrective concealer onto the dark areas under eyes and in the corner of eyes and around the nose and mouth. The makeup artist’s secret is to brighten the face with […]

elf makeup brushes

some of the skincare products aren’t on par with better formulated options that cost a bit more. From a line of cosmetics whose claim to fame is its rock-bottom prices we weren’t expecting much. The story goes that one day Borba was shopping in an unnamed “dollar store” (where everything sells for a dollar) and noticed women dressed in designer clothing and sporting designer handbags loading up their baskets with inexpensive nail polish, eye pencils, and lip balm. He took note of the products being sold in such stores and quickly decided he could offer products of even higher quality at the same competitive price. When you’re offering almost every product for $1 (OK, there’s plenty for $3 and $5, too), they’re not going to be nearly as luxurious or innovative as the company proclaims (most of the ingredient lists couldn’t be more basic and the packaging is sometimes slipshod). […]

vitiligo makeup

But the next time you reach for that default negativity, ladies, spare a thought for Cheri Lindsay – a brave, beautiful and positive young woman who suffers from a rare skin condition called vitiligo. In the video above Cheri bravely wipes away a layer of make-up from her face and hands to reveal her true self. “Don’t hide,” she says, staring at the camera. Nobody’s 100% perfect.” Vitiligo is a long-term condition which causes pale, white patches to develop on the skin due to the lack of a chemical called melanin. It can affect any area of your skin, but most commonly occurs on skin exposed to the sun, such as your face, neck and hands. Her condition developed over the last three years and she admits that it is not that easy to deal with. ‘It made me a little bit more approachable.’ Scroll down for videos Revealing: In […]

origin makeup

Origins At-A-Glance Strengths: The makeup products fare best including liquid concealer, blush, brow enhancer, and lip liner; Their approach and claims all hinge on the wonder of plants and the allegedly miraculous properties they offer for skin, whether it be dry, sensitive, oily, or simply showing the effects of time. In their attempt to appear more natural, Origins uses quite a bit of these offending ingredients, and they’re often listed before the much more beneficial additives, such as antioxidants, cell-communicating ingredients, and skin-identical ingredients. You might be wondering why, if Origins has had such continued success, their products can be such a problem for skin? and using products that contain irritating ingredients is bad for your skin, and lots of products come to the table with these inconsistencies. As we have explained in the introduction to the book, there is a litany of problems that take place when skin is irritated […]
