disney horse movies

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ never-before-seen short "Get a Horse!" stars the one and only Mickey Mouse and features Walt Disney himself as the voice of the iconic character.

Tommy leaves the following morning, stating that if Michael ever comes to Montana, he’d like to "return the favor." Tommy’s mother later calls Michael’s parents to inform them of how rude Michael was to Tommy during his stay and on the top of that police officers arrive at the Woods house informing them about Michael’s car accident earlier that day.
Given a new respect for Jules and Tommy, Michael tries to find some way in order to save the ranch not only from but also from Mule and Twister losing their jobs.
When a lazy and spoiled 20 year old named Michael Woods invites his cousin Tommy Biggs to come to his house for the weekend, Tommy is excited that he is going to see his cousin after not seeing him for a while.
When Michael arrives at the ranch, Tommy begins to exact his revenge by giving Michael complicated tasks to complete, most of which Tommy seems to know Michael will mess up in some way.
His parents also add that if they hear any negative reports from Jules or Tommy, they won’t allow Michael to go on his trip to the French Riviera with Gina.
When Michael finally arrives back at the Kiddie Zone to get Tommy, he learns from an employee that Tommy had already been picked up by Arlene.
After arriving at Michael’s house, he begins to ignore Tommy throughout the weekend, making him feel unwelcome.
On the way to pick Tommy up, Michael is involved in a minor car accident and gives the wrong information to the victim, Diedre White.
On the last day for Tommy to leave, Arlene, the housekeeper, has a talk with Michael about ignoring Tommy, and Michael tells her that he will take Tommy to Disneyland and that they will have a good time.
As Michael drives both himself and Tommy to Disneyland, he receives a call from his girlfriend, Gina, who is a drama queen and a snob.
Michael agrees, and drops Tommy off at a nearby Kiddie Zone so that he could go to the racetrack.
After being caught goofing off, Twister gives Michael a dressing down and tell him that the ranch is going to be foreclosed on at the end of the month, and added that no one else shared that information with Michael because it seemed he could not have cared less.
Diane Lane portrays Secretariat’s owner, Penny Chenery, and John Malkovich plays the trainer, Lucien Laurin.
Secretariat is taken to the Wood Memorial three weeks before the first of the Triple Crown races to take on Sham and attempt to earn Penny her syndication money.
The film chronicles the life of thoroughbred race horse Secretariat, winner of the Triple Crown in 1973.
Phipps wins Hasty Matelda, and Penny wins Somethingroyal’s foal, Secretariat.
Although she needs six million dollars to pay estate taxes, Penny refuses to sell Secretariat.
During this time, Frank "Pancho" Martin, trainer of rival horse Sham, tries to provoke a match race with Secretariat.
When Phipps demands to know why, she tells him Secretariat’s value will triple when he wins the Triple Crown – a feat no horse has accomplished in twenty-five years.
Penny’s father had made a deal with leading owner Ogden Phipps that if Phipps breeds his best stallion (Bold Ruler) with Chenery’s two best mares (Somethingroyal and Hasty Matelda), the two owners flip a coin to see who receives which foal.
Secretariat recovers and wins the Derby and Preakness in record time, then wins the Belmont by 31 lengths (over 82 yards (75 m)) to secure the Triple Crown.
Secretariat is a 2010 biographical sports drama film produced and released by Walt Disney Pictures and directed by Randall Wallace.
Bill Nack, the author of the book the film is based on, pointed out that Pancho Martin’s verbal attack on Laurin before the Kentucky Derby was not intended to create an image of Martin as ‘evil’ or ‘vaguely terrorist-flavored,’ as O’Hehir claimed in his review.[11] The film lifted Martin’s diatribes against Laurin from Nack’s book, which were a transcription of Martin’s actual words as recorded by Nack.
Penny gets experienced jockey Ron Turcotte to ride Secretariat to many victories.
In fact, Chenery told me that had her father, Christopher Chenery, died in November of 1972 instead of January of 1973, she probably would have been forced to sell Secretariat outright.
Conner lives with his father David (played by Brian Kerwin) and grandmother Laura (played by Ellen Burstyn), but when they do not have enough money to repay the bills, Conner's father rejoins the merchant marines to pay back the mortgage and has enough money to buy Conner the horse.

Its about a black horse, poor ranchers own it, they have to sell it to some rich people to race it, they take they horse away and it escapes, travels throw deserts (mexico?) and returns to the girl at the farm, its all filthy and the trainer comes from the owners from the stables that brought the horse and the trainer knows its the horse but says its not it.

Twenty-five or thirty years ago, there was made-for-TV movie that depicted the first Native American on the central plains to ever see a horse.
Great story but Ive been looking for the TV series / film for years, I'm not sure if the series was shown elsewhere or what title it was shown under.
The key thing I remember about it was that A girl and an American indian boy took a wild horse away from a stables because the owner was an ass to it.

Hey, I'm trying to find a t.v program about horse racing.
Penny hires Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich) as the trainer and Ron Turcotte (Otto Thorwarth) as the jockey, and along with the groom, Eddie Sweet (Nelsan Ellis) together they form a great team and foster the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years.
I wouldn't say this is a better movie, it's different, but I can say that Secretariat was a better racehorse that won the most important races, including the Triple Crown in 1973 (a feat that hadn't been accomplished in 25 years).
Diane Lane is Penny Chenery, a mother of four and housewife who's life changes after her mother's death and a visit to their stable based in Virginia.
The story involving his owner, Penny Chenery, and how she saved her ailing father's stable risking everything (including her marriage) and betting it on the horse just adds to the overall dramatic effect of the plot.
Of course the movie can't be successful if it doesn't have some drama in it, and so some problems surface back home with Penny's husband, Jack Tweedy (Dylan Walsh), because running a stable back in Virginia has affected Penny with her housewife duties.
Penny decides to change things around in order to save the stable and begins by firing their trainer who seems to be making some unfavorable deals with other owners by trying to sell their horses at a much lower value.
Somehow Penny has to manage saving the stable in a macho dominated society and maintain her family together, while risking everything on one horse: Secretariat.
Against all odds, Chenery — with the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin — manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in twenty-five years.
Housewife and mother Penny Chenery agrees to take over her ailing father’s Virginia-based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge.

Justin Morgan Had a Horse is a 1972 Western family drama film written by Calvin Clements Jr.
The real challenge, according to Lone Ranger head horse trainer Bobby Lovgren, is far less expected and not quite as exciting: getting the horses to stay still.
Leaping onto a moving train, fleeing from a burning building, galloping through the desert with a handsome and mysterious masked man on his back — those are just a few of the tricks Silver, the Lone Ranger’s trusty white steed, performs in Disney’s new adaptation of The Lone Ranger.
Lovgren, a horse trainer from South Africa, has been training horses in movies such as Seabiscuit and War Horse for more than 20 years.
Before a lot of films we try to find horses with a lot of experience with particular athletic abilities, which makes it much easier to train, but with The Lone Ranger we had to go out and get the color first.
“It’s really the standing there doing the dialog and not moving, when the horse isn’t doing anything — those are very difficult because it takes a lot of patience from the horse,” Lovgren told Vetstreet.
It looks like an old school Mickey cartoon right? We had the chance to get the full scoop on this Disney short when we interviewed Director Lauren MacMullan, Producer Dorothy McKim, the famous Disney artist Eric Goldberg, and CG Animator Adam Green about this project.

wired_parrot writes After being criticized for being slow to respond to Marvel’s string of blockbuster superhero movies, Warner Brothers finally announced their plan for DC comic universe movie franchise.
So, you may not like them (and nobody says you have to), but there’s really no denying that the Marvel properties which have been turned into film since X-Men have generated huge amounts of money, have been seen by tons of people, and have even more films (and money) in the pipeline.
That the summary doesn’t mention "Suicide Squad" [filmschoolrejects.com] as a forthcoming movie? Probably because most people still think superhero movies are kids movies and s-u-i-c-i-d-e is an inappropriate subject for kids movies.
As I posted earlier, there was a horse movie on The wonderful world of Disney  about a beautiful white horse that was a total under dog and ended up competing at Madison Square Gardens in an international   Hunter/jumper show.
Was the Horse with the flying tail the movie where the snow white horse ended up winning the BIG jumping show at Madison Gardens? It was with the guy that was in the original Herby the Love bug movies.

According to Disney, we needed at least one more historically sugar-coated “impossible true story.” Something savory for the whole family, with perfectly timed and safe one-liners and plot points that the company has had on repeat since it started doing live action movies.

It’s the fictional story of precocious pre-teen Velvet Brown (Taylor) who believes so strongly that her beloved horse Pi can win the Grand National that she’s prepared to disguise herself as a male jockey and take the situation into her own hands.
While I could’ve chosen to be bitter about the “whisperer” craze this film set off — which endures to this day — instead I’ll simply remember the touching story of a man with remarkable equine-communication abilities and a very young ScarJo who has a hard time believing he’s for real.
1) The Black Stallion – We’re going back to 1979 for my #1 pick, which is an adaptation of a 1941 classic children’s book about young Alec, a boy shipwrecked on a desert island, and the gorgeous Arabian stallion he comes to befriend.
3) Secretariat – Diane Lane and John Malkovich play the feisty racing horse’s owner and trainer, and they’re determined to show the world that “Big Red” is a champion.
