games like world of warcraft

If you find the dull graphics and boring fantasy storylines of other MMORPGs leave a lot to be desired then you’re the intended audience for Age of Conan, one of the paid like World of Warcraft that is now completely free to play.
It might be the final game on my list of free games like WoW but it’s definitely a game that science fiction (in particular Star Wars) fans won’t want to miss.
Having played the game for those first few months it was a very fresh experience with a space based setting that only a small handful of other games in this genre have used before.
The games graphics are simply as good as it gets and while that does mean you’ll be spending a lot of your monthly data to download the game it’s well worth it (it was 25GB last time I checked).
It was one of the first free games in this genre that I consdiered to be done well and it’s survival over the time period supports that as countless free to play MMOs have been shutdown due to lack of funds.

Since it is free to play and requires very little of your system, Allods Online is a great game for any fan of WoW style gameplay to check out.
Allods Online surprised me out of the box by offering my account creation to just come from Facebook, as though I were playing a smaller, web-based game.
Much in the way that every game with a first person view of a huge gun is not a Doom clone, there are plenty of MMORPGs that deliver a great gaming experience without being a copy of the Blizzard behemoth.
The game itself has seen a number of attempts to keep users playing the game, including the move to Free to Play (with some restrictions).
The game features a completely unique set of plot points for each class type, though by staggering them through the same basic areas there’s still plenty of interaction between the classes throughout the game.
By the time you have joined the rest of the world you find yourself with a few levels worth of experience and the required skills to play the game.
A good part of the game feels like it could be played solo, but once you leave the starting area for your character you can team up with whoever is willing.
If you’ve got some time to kill and want to jump into something a little different, Talisman Online is free to play and requires very little in terms of hardware.

These games like World of Warcraft are not featured in any particular order and may not appeal to everyone.

There are also plenty of free games like World of Warcraft which is generally the number one reason why people avoid the popular Blizzard game.
The game is without a doubt a standout in the free MMORPG genre and is available at a reasonable download size (a couple of gigabytes) considering the amount of content on offer.
Other notable features of Allods Online include unique and varied monster designs, a large number of classes, an amazing immersive world, a solid interface and plenty of quests for players to explore.
The graphic quality of skill animations in EverQuest II is one of the highest when it comes to the free-to-play MMORPG genre and combined with the varied lands to explore within the game EverQuest II offers a visually appealing experience.
Within a few days of its launch the game already had over 1 million subscribers making it the world’s fastest growing MMO, although many players did not stick the game is a great change of setting from the usual fantasy MMOS.
If you are looking for a game like World of Warcraft to play within your browser then RuneScape is a great choice.

With a community behind it in the millions, 8 very distinct classes, over a thousand quests and hundred of items this free to play MMO isn’t short on longevity (the game has been around for over a decade).
Guild Wars 2 is the latest addition to the MMORPG genre and has already received strong reviews from critics, holding a score of 90 on Metacritic which is one of the highest for a game in the genre, a real testament to its quality.
EverQuest II features a massive game world where you can make friends and head off on countless adventures and quests together.
Considering the game can be played for free in your browser this large game world is well above what I ever expected.
Most of the games here offer a free World of Warcraft experience since I always believed that subscription based MMOs rarely offered gameplay quality that was above the free alternatives (at least not enough for the price).
One notable feature is the unique game world which is made up of several large shared spaces (limited territory ownership) with safe houses for each faction (superhero or villain) scattered across the world.
Combined with the 5 unique races on offer and the fast paced combat systems the game is one of the great free MMORPGs around that will entertain you for months to come.
Great lens, but in all fairness Everquest II is the sequel to a game that came out way before World of Warcraft.
The game originally released in 2008 as a subscription based model but has had a free to play component since 2011 (under the relaunch name of Age of Conan: Unchained).
Play with your friends, engage in PvP combat and advance through the game world to reach the maximum level.
As of November 2011 the game has gone free to play with an optional subscription and micro-transactions facilitated through Sony’s Station Cash currency.
EverQuest II was released back in 2004 off the success of the original EverQuest MMORPG, the game now packs over 10 expansion packs offering a large amount of content.
Perfect World has all the standard MMORPG features offering plenty of customisation through races, classes, quest lines and great skill variety.
Forsaken World is another fantasy MMORPG and is free to play but does have a hefty file size due to its high quality graphics (3GB+).
Compared to huge MMORPG experiences like World of Warcraft RuneScape is definitely something of a more casual experience that won’t drain away large amounts of your time compared to some of the other experiences on this page.
The game aims to standout from the crowd with a high focus on interaction and features all the standard bells and whistles that you would come to expect from an MMORPG.
With 10million+ strong community and the rebirth system encouraging you to keep playing Conquer Online has become a must play MMO for many gamers looking to commit themselves to a game for the longer term and make lasting friendships.
Perfect World is a fantasy game like World of Warcraft.
The game offers players two different factions, the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire although players are able to choose their own level of morality along a light/dark spectrum regardless of their faction alliance.
Guild Wars 2 has no subscription fees, meaning players only have to purchase the game for full access.
The game is free to download and play, as it makes use of a micro-transaction shop feature.

Guild Wars 2 offers a very different angle to the fantasy world of MMO’s and may appeal to those who are looking for a ‘no-sub’ MMORPG like World of Warcraft.
There are many other MMO’s available for you to play, some with the same fantasy theme, others with sci-fi, and even some MMORPG’s that are completely free to play with no subscription at all.
EVE Online is a subscription based Sandbox MMO but it also allows the user to purchase game time with in-game currency that you obtain from completing missions and various other activities.
Lord of the Rings Online follows the typical MMORPG concept with quested orientated gameplay. Noticeable features include mounted combat, offering a fast adrenalin filled battling system.
Requiring an initial one time purchase with the option of monthly subscription, It is a puzzle based MMORPG set in the present-time world.
The player is not restricted to one class or skill set, rather they have the ability to pick and play from the traditional set of MMORPG roles as they progress through the game.
There are many aspects of Secret World that set it apart from other MMORPG’s, particularly the skill system.
Of course all of this is great fun, but in Entropia Universe you can not only kill the foul beast for experience but also gain loot worth real money! A very radical idea which allows the in-game currency (PED) to be redeemed to your real world bank account at a fixed rate.
With enticing instanced battles, exciting encounters against huge creatures (nearly every creature is as big as you, creating an impressive atmosphere in combat), and a beautiful world which is enjoyable to play in, Tera is a must to try out.
Entropia Universe may seem like any other game in the same genre: you are able to do missions, there’s an expansive skill system, you kill foul beasts for experience and loot.
It also adopts a unique feature whereby space-time tears hole within itself creating huge rifts that allow all manner of powerful creatures into the game world.
Some players casually play for enjoyment and others play for business, with investors paying $330,000 for a virtual space station (which was entered in the Guinness World Records for the most expensive virtual item).
Overall Lord of the Rings Online offers a story-orientated experience that makes the game more immersive and enjoyable to play.
Guild Wars 2 boasts to be very unique in the MMORPG genre, highlighted by a storyline that is responsive to player actions, something which is very common in single player games (for example Skyrim) but very rarely implemented in MMORPG’s.
Lord of the Rings Online first released in 2007 by Turbine, with a monthly subscription however it is now Free to Play.
While Secret World doesn’t follow traditional MMORPG architecture it does offer a breath of fresh air in this saturated genre.
A top 12 list of MMORPG games similar to World of Warcraft.
Perfect World is a popular MMORPG set in a fantasy world that is inspired by traditional Chinese lore.
This is an extremely radical MMORPG and would appeal to those that are particularly exhausted by the typical MMORPG formula that World of Warcraft uses.
It initially released at the beginning of 2011 with monthly subscription but eventually moved to Free to Play with premium features supported by the use of ‘Station Cash’ (a prepaid card).
If you are getting weary of the experience that fantasy MMORPG have to offer, DC Universe online is a perfect next step.
The fascinating thing is, EVE online runs continuously in one persistent world – no servers to pick from – everything you do has a consequence and those consequences ripple out to the edges of the entire game.

In Free Realms, users can have pets, work at jobs, race around, play games, explore the world, and (of course) customize and deck out their avatars, which are common in World of Warcraft.
The gameplay system, including Guild, Auction, PvP, Instance, Arean, Achievements and so on, which are all similar to World of Warcraft.

Since I like super heros and they have a live action combat system like im looking for.
Since I like super heros and they have a live action combat system like im looking for.
Try Tera or Neverwinter, both are F2P and have the "action" type combat you’re talking about.
Tera can keep your attention for awhile specially the combat but there’s only so many end game dungeons and 2 BGs then it gets boring after you’ve done those.
I have played Rift before, but because the combat is close to the same as wow I wasnt very very interested.
I did however take a look at reviews of Tera which looked interesting Neverwinter I found was with D&D.

The game was released in 2011 as a subscription based experience but went free to play in June 2013.
Since going free to play the game has grown in popularity thanks to its huge number of class options compared to other MMORPG options.
Gameplay in World of Warcraft is very typical of the MMORPG genre with players creating a character to interact with the inhabitants of the game world (both NPCs and other players).

It’s not clear exactly how many players were infected with Corrupted Blood, but after four days the disease had spread to four out of the 11 servers at Blizzard that ran WoW.
Yee’s Night Elf died of a sickness called Corrupted Blood, which had quickly spread from a single dungeon to four servers, infecting millions of players and bringing the game to a crashing halt.
Players who teleported out of Zul’Gurub while infected with Corrupted Blood brought it with them—something a disease like that isn’t supposed to be able to do.
Once players in a guild were infected with Corrupted Blood, they invariably gave the disease to anyone standing near them.
After a few days Blizzard tried to quarantine infected players within the game——rounding them up and moving them to an area of the world away from other characters.
“There are very good scientific techniques for understanding what disease spread should look like in the real world,” Fefferman says.
So Fefferman and Lofgren started collecting player accounts from forums and YouTube videos, trying to figure out what kinds of things people did to avoid or perpetuate the outbreak.
When Fefferman logged off WoW during the Corrupted Blood plague to call Blizzard, she was already thinking about what kinds of data she wanted.
“I don’t think I or anyone would really say you can take these results, cut and paste them into the real world, and this will work out.” Instead, they’re looking for broader classes of information about how people might behave, and which factors change how people behave.
“It’s not malicious,” Lofgren says, but people with the flu who go to work—because they’re out of sick days or they have a big deadline coming up—are knowingly exposing their coworkers to disease.
Fefferman and Lofgren couldn’t even get a lot of the data they hoped for, because Blizzard doesn’t keep information about where all its players are all the time.

The mighty mouse worked with WoW but the issue I had with the Mighty Mouse was when you leave your finger on the LMB (Left Mouse Button), the RMB (Right Mouse Button) wouldn’t work so you HAD to take your finger off the mouse button to right click.
change the mouses settings to provide 2-click functionality, with all the multi touch options active – and left clicking, right clicking, vertical scrolling, and horizontal scrolling will all be at your fingertips.

there are non-subscription games like Guild Wars but with that connection playing online is going to be difficult no matter what you do.
Ummm I agree with Hhhmmm, there arent any really good MMORPG’s that are free.

Optimizes your games internet connection, reduces lag and Increases your game speed up to 70%.
A fantasy online role playing game with real combat.
Heroes of the Storm, the free MOBA biting at the heels of Dota2 and League of Legends.
An epic and innovative game in a stagnating genre.

It is the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994.[4] World of Warcraft takes place within the Warcraft world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard’s previous Warcraft release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.[5] Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001.[6] The game was released on November 23, 2004, on the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.
Claims were also made that telephone support was closed for isolated periods due to the volume of calls and resulting queues.[104] In April 2007, attacks evolved to take advantage of further exploits involving animated cursors, with multiple websites being used.[105][106] Security researcher group Symantec released a report stating that a compromised World of Warcraft account was worth US$10 on the black market, compared to US$6 to US$12 for a compromised computer (correct as of March 2007).[107] In February 2008, phishing emails were distributed requesting that users validate their account information using a fake version of the World of Warcraft account management pages.[108] In June 2008, Blizzard announced the Blizzard Authenticator, available as a hardware security token or mobile application[109] that provides two factor security.
In this way, character classes are used in specific roles within a group.[28][31] World of Warcraft uses a "rested bonus" system, increasing the rate that a character can gain experience points after the player has spent time away from the game.[24] When a character dies, it becomes a ghost—or wisp for Night Elf characters—at a nearby graveyard.[29] Characters can be resurrected by other characters that have the ability, or can self-resurrect by moving from the graveyard to the place where they died.
World of Warcraft was first announced by Blizzard at the ECTS trade show in September 2001.[49] Released in 2004, development of the game took roughly 4–5 years, including extensive testing.
World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) created in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment.
Blizzard makes use of a system known as Warden on the Windows version of the game to detect third-party programs, such as botting software, allowing World of Warcraft to be played unattended.
These changes were imposed by the Chinese government in an attempt to "promote a healthy and harmonious online game environment" in World of Warcraft.[61][62] The Chinese government has delayed release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, due to what it feels is objectionable content.[63] NetEase took over licensing of World of Warcraft from The9 in June 2009 following the expiration of The9’s contract,[64] and were able to secure a launch for Wrath of the Lich King on August 31, 2010, nearly two years after its Western release.
A player also has the option of purchasing three or six months of gameplay at once for a 6–15% discount.[57] In Australia, the United States, and many European countries, video game stores commonly stock the trial version of World of Warcraft in DVD form, which includes the game and 20 levels[58] of gameplay, after which the player would have to upgrade to a retail account by supplying a valid credit card, or purchasing a game card as well as a retail copy of the game.
In August 2012, Megabloks launched a licensed line of World of Warcraft ‘building block’ toys based on the game scenes, scenarios and characters.[148] In March 2013, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft was announced, this is a digital card game based on the Warcraft universe and it uses classes similar to World of Warcraft.
World of Warcraft received universal acclaim upon release,[85] following a period of high anticipation before launch.[82] Although the game follows a similar model to—and was noted for using many familiar concepts from—the roleplaying genre,[19][80] the new approaches to reducing pauses between game encounters were well liked.[30] A common example was the approach to character death.

I get tired of hearing these wind bags blaming video games for today's problems… its not like its the crooked politicians, corrupt insurance companies, lazy f'n people who don't want to work for what they receive instead of continuously asking me to pay more to take care of their azz.
Various studies have been conducted over the years, with some saying there’s no connection between behavioral issues and video games, while others claim that increased aggression and violent can be linked to gaming.
The idea that video game violence causes violent actions in real life has been a political hot potato for many years.
To be fair to Beck, Rodger himself mentioned how video games had become a major part of his life in a tome-like manifesto that recorded his thoughts.
Of course, this is also World of Warcraft that was specifically mentioned, and it’s hardly an example of video games violence since all the action tends to be fairly cartoony and unrealistic.

Games like World of Warcraft are designed to provide the user with a realistic gaming experience and one that will suck them into a different world while offering mind blowing graphics and an excellent storyline.
A fantasy game just like WOW, Perfect World allows the player to truly customize their gaming experience based on skill variety, quest lines and classes.
Avid gamers and fans of WOW are always looking for the next big game or a game that can offer a real challenge, and there are some top games like World of Warcraft that can get you as equally hooked.
When compared to WOW, it can be hard to find games like World of Warcraft that can offer the same type of realistic experience.
The character development is fairly standard for games like World of Warcraft and the style progression will combine bosses, missions and exploration.

So, what’s wrong? Well, it’s a lot of little things, but essentially Destiny is having a hard time finding the right balance between being a shooter and a massively multiplayer online game.
Shooting is fun, and Destiny has nailed those mechanics, but where’s all the other stuff we usually see in massively multiplayer online games? Maybe Destiny could have created a card game, similar to Final Fantasy VIII or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
World of Warcraft is mainly about fighting, but it also lets players fish, cook, farm, craft, collect pets, train pets, battle pets, participate in drinking contests, joust, and … well, you get the idea.
Above: You can fish in World of Warcraft, or you could kind of play soccer in Destiny.
Above: World of Warcraft likes to joke around, while everyone in Destiny is usually dramatically looking at something in the distance.
Above: Destiny could learn a few lessons from World of Warcraft.
Why couldn’t only one class use shotguns or sniper rifles? Why not give them more special abilities? Or, at the very least, why not have more than three? Even at launch, World of Warcraft had nine classes.
Specifically, Destiny should take some pointers from World of Warcraft, the insanely popular MMO that originally launched back in 2004 and is still going strong.
This means that you really have no incentive to start a new character, whereas World of Warcraft players often try out each race even if it is just to experience their starting areas.
Meanwhile, World of Warcraft classes have dozens of different spells and features, and they also have some distinct quests.
Above: Those are just some of the races in World of Warcraft, while Destiny’s three choices don’t differ much from each other.

The Fx-6300 is a good chip, It should withstand WoW, Maybe turn a few settings down, But it should be fine.
Will the following PC run games like World of Warcraft and Skyrm on max settings? Please note that I bought a graphics card replacement shipped with it.
The Fx-6300 is a good chip, It should withstand WoW, Maybe turn a few settings down, But it should be fine.
Problems both single threaded heavy and engine is older and probably will never be updated for that game.
Older games take advantage of CPUs with stronger single thread performance which is why that’s the case.
FPS goes up and down alot depending on how the game manages players keeping in sync.

You’re using a web browser that isn’t supported by Facebook.

When you launch the game you’re presented with a barrage of world chat but you can cut out the global channel by expanding the options and holding down on any channel to block it from appearing in your chat window, this calms things down considerably.
It also bears mentioning that you’ll want to take a close look at the terms and conditions that you agree to when you open up Order & Chaos for the first time.
Order & Chaos [$6.99, App Store] is the latest in a long line of products from portable gaming company Gameloft that is basically a thinly veiled clone of a popular title on another platform.
On the other hand, if you’re intrigued by the prospects of sinking hours of your time into a huge fantasy world on your or iPad as well as you computer then you’re about to be ecstatic.
It will take me a while to develop a final opinion of the game as I level up through the ranks and it’s still a mystery to me how Gameloft keeps getting away with these clones.

Weatherley, the MP for Hove, East Sussex and a Warcraft player himself, says that since players can spend serious amounts of real-world cash on items, even though they exist only online, they should be offered the same protection as victims of theft in the world of solid objects.
So much so that, as David Cameron’s chief adviser on intellectual property, he has asked ministers to consider passing a that would mean people "who steal online items in video games with a real-world monetary value receive the same sentences as criminals who steal real-world items of the same monetary value".
However, it’s hard not to feel Weatherley’s argument crumbled a little bit when he said that if it was "a minor thing, a £5 item", he wouldn’t waste the authorities’ time – "but if I found someone doing it a thousand times over, then it’s obviously a problem." So, whoever stole 1,000 wizard robes from Weatherley, he’s coming after you – with the full force of the real-life law.
Gamers spend a lot of money on virtual items, and invest time in building armed forces or gigantic warships.

As heroes, they explore familiar battlefields, discover new lands, and take on epic quests and challenges in Blizzard’s massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
Every time a character kills a monster or completes a quest, the experience points are clearly given, and a meter with the character’s progress within a level is clearly marked with numbers.
I seriously only checked the game out at first because a friend of mine was going to play, but the more I read into it, I was hooked (so much so, that I now work of the Stratics staff for this game!).
Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world.
Now, I, like many others, have been waiting in ancicipation for this game to come out, and when I had the chance to play the stress test, I was elated.
Even in Beta, this is the single most stable, lag-free game I have ever played, and I am on a three-year old gaming system.
I just spent the last week playing the World of Warcraft Stress Test Beta, and I can tell you that it was better than I expected.
Even though the game wasn’t finished, it still has many features that make it head and shoulders above every other MMORPG I’ve played.
Between XP from killing monsters and the great quest completion XP, I was able to level a character to 17 in 3 days of semi-casual play.
For the first time, players can experience the lands of WarCraft’s Azeroth from a new, in-depth perspective.
Grouping is optional, and does need some work (its actually harder to get XP in a group than soloing) but the implementation of all group members receiving quest items practically eliminates the need to camp an area to get your quest drop, if everyone in the area is smart enough to group up, that is! And as items only drop if you have the quest, there’s no people hanging around just to make money.
I’ve played by subscription or beta tested ten MMO’s now, and I was very shocked to find that World of Warcraft blew them all out of the water.
Blizzard has taken care to make the game accessible and fun both for hard-core 60-hour-a-week players and for more casual adventurers.
There appeared to be no need for extremely quick reflexes in this game, but instead a player needs to use strategy and planning to avoid getting in over one’s head.
The quest system in this game is better than I have ever seen.
Also, quests give lots of experience, and since they can usually be done on a casual basis, they don’t require the same level of one-track focus that they do in other games I have played.
I have played World of Warcraft since September 2005 and I have only taken around 3-4 breaks the longest being 4 months.
The questing system is so far beyond any other game, it is truely in a class by itself.
And now, World of Warcraft and its Expansion Pack "World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade" are combined in one package with additional items! –This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
Im not gonna rate the game it self, just the packing and handling of the product which is 5 stars.
Experience the World of Warcraft! World of Warcraft is an online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe.
To make a long story short, this will be a great game, but there is still a lot of work needed to make it release-ready.
In my opinion, the death system is one of the best, as you can choose to lose XP by ressurecting right at the graveyard, or just run to your character’s corpse and revive there with no experience loss.
Great game to pass time, and meet up with friends.
Being "Massively Multiplayer," World of Warcraft allows thousands of players to interact within the same world.
If you are planning on checking this game out in open Beta, wait two days, THEN log in if you think this will be an issue.
During this "way too short" Stress Test, I decided to try a variety of different characters and locations, so played the following characters: Night Elf Druid, lvl 12; Tauren Hunter, lvl 13; Human Mage, lvl 8; Human Warlock, lvl 6; Gnome Warlock, lvl 6; Troll Shaman, lvl 6.

Ubisoft’s upcoming racing game The Crew has been designed to be the "World of Warcraft of driving games," the publisher said today as part of its latest earnings report.
