how to buy ez pass

With E-ZPass’ electronic toll collection (ETC) technology, account information on an electronic transponder installed in your car is read by a receiving antenna at the toll plaza.
The good news is you can open your E-ZPass prepaid account today! You’ll soon be enjoying the benefits of electronic toll collection.
E-ZPass is a remarkable toll collection technology that makes traveling more convenient, helps you save money through discounts offered by many toll facilities, and helps reduce traffic congestion for everyone.
The account policies stated on this page are Delaware E-ZPass policies and may not apply at other regional toll facilities.
Not only does E-ZPass make toll collection more convenient for you, it helps achieve a number of benefits for everyone.
The Delaware Department of Transportation E-ZPass Toll Plaza offices are open Monday through Sunday, 24 hours each day.
Whether you purchase a new car, move, wish to change your E-ZPass account, or simply have questions, you can access Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on-line, and receive assistance by phone or in-person at one of our walk in centers.
Simply go to one of the conveniently located service centers (listed below) and get an E-ZPass On-The-Go pack.
EZPass is the device that is linked to your credit card, and once placed in your windshield, allows you to drive right through a toll booth without stopping.
The opening of a new highway in the Maryland suburbs outside of Washington DC will probably drive many, many citizens in the area to purchase the toll road EZPass.
Whether this is a good idea for you depends on where you live, where you drive, and whether your local highway system offers discounts on certain routes to holders of their own tag.
The zone of state toll systems that are part of E-ZPass now stretches far beyond the New York metropolitan area where it began.
It’s all a compatible system, but different states set their own fees to issue the transponders and maintain your account.
NOTE: All states require a “pre-paid” amount, usually around $20 to be placed on your credit card.

The first week that the highway is open, no tolls will be levied, so that drivers get a chance to get used to the road.  But after that, if vehicles are not carrying an EZ-Pass, their license plate will be recorded and the toll will be sent to their house.  After the first month of operation, Maryland transportation officials will add a $3 processing fee on top of the toll.
For non-commercial drivers who select a standard plan, you’ll be able to use your Maryland EZ-Pass in toll plazas in 14 states across the Northeast and inland.  Other discount plans are available but have time limits.  You should check the website to find out which one will work the best for you.
If your E-ZPass Flex is switched to HOV mode and you have three or more passengers in the car when you travel through the Express Lanes, the toll equipment will read your E-ZPass information and we will not charge you a toll.
However, if you want to get a toll-free trip on the Express Lanes you need three or more people in your vehicle and an E-ZPass Flex set to HOV mode.
If you plan to carpool in the 495 Express Lanes, you will need an E-ZPass Flex.  With E-ZPass Flex and three people in the car, you can use the Express Lanes for free.
When you travel on the 495 Express Lanes, the toll equipment will read your E-ZPass information and electronically deduct the toll from your prepaid E-ZPass account.
If you don’t think you’ll travel the 495 Express Lanes with three or more people in your vehicle then you need a standard E-ZPass.
And, the E-ZPass Flex, with three or more people in the car, means you get a free trip on the 495 Express Lanes.
You have two E-ZPass options – standard E-ZPass or E-ZPass® FlexSM.  The E-ZPass you need depends on how you plan to use the Express Lanes.
All drivers need an E-ZPass to use the 495 Express Lanes.  If you have an E-ZPass in your car already, you can use the 495 Express Lanes.

Ok, I really don’t know what is wrong with all the other reviewer’s saying "if you buy this you’re an idiot because it’s free from whereever." i have no idea what they are talking about- I dont know what EZPass is so i must not live in that state.
Our Replacement EZPass mounting strips are the same strips that came with your toll transponder.
When you purchase a new vehicle, you’re going to want to move your EZPass or IPass as quickly and easily as possible.
However, I should have just called EZ-Pass first – when I called to switch my vehicle info, they offered to send me new velcro for free.
Why would anyone pay for these when you can get as many as you want for free at any EZpass customer service center and at most toll booths.
So I dind’t buy this for my toll tag- I bought this because I was looking for tape that would semi-permanently afix my radar detector to my windsheild and withstand the hot texas summer sun.
