husband appreciation day

Appreciation days for loved ones should be everyday, don’t worry about gifts – what the poll tells us! Well done on being selected as one of the Best of April’s Silly Celebrations.

This holiday provides the perfect opportunity to let him know how much you admire and appreciate him for all he does.
On Husband Appreciation Day, show the man in your life just how much he means to you and your family.
You made the decision to marry him and share your life together, so take this day to let him know just how much you cherish him.
Many husbands are taken for granted and their contributions go unrecognized.

How does one say “Thank You” for that person who consistently mows the lawn, takes out the trash and fixes the toilet? More so, how does a person express gratefulness for having someone to share her life with? Finding the answers to these questions leads to how this spectacular day may be spent.
The Husband Appreciation Day is always celebrated worldwide on the third Saturday of April each year.
Husband Appreciation Day is on April 16, 2016, a Saturday.
The Husband Appreciation Day is on April 18, 2015, a Saturday.
It’s a perfect time for wives to show, not just their appreciation, but their and thanksgiving for having someone to grow old with.

If you happen to have a husband, this may be his lucky day! It’s Husband Appreciation Day! While the origins of this annual “holiday” are unknown, the event is observed on the third Saturday in April.
Jace Shoemaker-Galloway not only writes a holiday’s newspaper column for the McDonough Voice, but you can also hear her holiday’s radio segment on WCLO AM with Steve Benton.
Over the past nine years, the "Queen of Holidays" has written thousands of articles covering traditional, not-so-traditional and downright wacky holidays.
Happy Husband Appreciation Day! And don’t worry ladies – Wife Appreciation Day is coming up in September.

Does your husband have a playful side? A great sense of humor? Is there a "little boy" that wants to escape from time to time, reflecting the joy in his heart? This is a wonderful part of who he is, and a great strength.
If you are not sure about your husband’s vision for your home, ask him, "Honey, what do you want to accomplish with our marriage and home in the years to come?" and "How can I help you accomplish that?" If he does not have a vision, your questions may inspire him to develop one.
Is your husband a "wise man?" Does he have a godly perspective that comes from knowing God and walking with Him in obedience? Does he have a sense of purpose for his life and vision for your home? Tell him how much this means to you.
As you continue in the "30-Day Encouragement Challenge," determine to look for ways that your husband stands against the culture.
In this challenge to encourage, ask: "If all my family and friends knew about my husband came from a filter of what I’ve said about him, what would they think of my husband?" Do you need to change the filter? Do you talk positively about your husband to others .
Speaking of communication, does your husband communicate with you? God has made you a companion and helper for your husband, and part of being "one flesh" with him is the privilege of sharing and discussing personal needs and concerns.
We’re so glad you’ve decided to accept the "30-Day Encouragement Challenge" to encourage your husband! Your decision means that you truly want to be a blessing in your home.
Do you "dump" on your husband at the end of the workday, or do you strengthen and encourage him with your words? A wise wife will make her husband feel that she values and appreciates his work.
Is your husband the "creative" type? Does he have any artistic gifts? What is that special "knack" he has? Affirm him for his handiwork – a hobby, music, gardening, tinkering with cars, working with wood, etc.
Does your husband discipline your children wisely? Does he show them love and encourage them? Does he take an interest in their activities and dreams? Does he spend time with them? Does he take part in developing their character? Praise him for these important life skills.
Ask yourself, "Am I being negative toward my husband in the area of finances?" Determine not to speak evil of your husband in this area.
To help you get started, have you ever thanked your husband for "choosing you" above all other women? He found you attractive as a person, and appreciated you.
Does the "30-Day Encouragement Challenge" seem like hard work? Or is it becoming a pleasant exercise in genuine Christ-likeness in your home? You are only scratching the surface of ways to encourage your mate.
We are so quick to offer a comment – negative or positive—that we don’t really "hear" our husband’s heart.
As you look over your husband’s body, from the tip of his toes to his bald or bushy head, thank God that your husband is "wonderfully made," then admire your husband verbally.
Is your husband a "good lover"? Have you told him so? Be specific.
Does your husband handle finances wisely? Does he make good financial investments, based on biblical principles? Does he have a budget? Does he make wise decisions about purchases—checking many sources before he buys? Is he a good steward of his money before the Lord? Let him know how much you appreciate his strengths in financial matters.
Part of the difficulty you may face as you continue in this 30-day challenge to encourage your husband is that you really are struggling to find positive things to praise.
As you continue in your 30-day challenge, not speaking negatively and focusing on positive encouragement, hear the Lord’s admonition today: "Be swift to hear." If listening is a real problem for you, play a game with yourself.
Does your husband have an eternal perspective that allows him to reject materialism and temporal values? Express your gratefulness for his value system, and praise him for putting eternal things before riches and other things of this world.
Is your spouse a man of integrity? Is he fair in his dealings with people? Does he understand the meaning of justice? Is he honest in business? Unhypocritical in his faith? Consider all the ways a man can live in integrity, and praise your husband for one of them.
"The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain.
Can you identify an area of spiritual strength in your husband? Does he pray or read his Bible regularly? Does he like to read about or discuss spiritual matters? Does he go to church with you? Is he a spiritual leader? What do others say about him? If you can identify a specific area, praise him for that.

Honestly, do we need this? Come to think of it, maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take a few moments and think about everything your husband does.

Plan a scavenger hunt for him at his favorite store – the prize could be a 5 minute shopping spree with a gift card you purchased in advance (5 minutes should be plenty of time to pick out a great treat since he spent so long looking around the store for scavenger hunt items).
Plan a fun sports game at home like hockey with mini hockey nets, laundry basket basketball, ultimate Frisbee in the backyard – set up a concession stand with his favorite snacks.
Take him out to a movie of his choice or surprise him by arranging the theatre to play his favorite movie for a private screening (many movie theaters can make arrangements to play a special movie in their least busy time of the day).
Transform one of the rooms in your house to a special “man cave” for him – either just for the day or as a permanent room for him – and stock the room with his favorite books, magazines, snacks and drinks.

Never heard of it! I wonder if there are cards out at Hallmark for this "holiday"?! LOL Won’t be celebrating on the 7th, but we did have "National Thank you Papa Day" at our house a week and a half ago (which isn’t really "national" because it only happened in out house…I just thought it sounded more official if I put "national" in front of it! LOL) DH has been helping me out a TON this PG, and so the boys and I made him his favorite cookies, each made him a card thanking him for things he does for us and got him some thank you balloons, and a new sweatshirt.

So, whether today is the official day or not, I have decided to put together a list of the 10 Great Man Trips you might want to plan in honor of this not-quite National Holiday, Husband Appreciation Day! These ideas are a little different than our usual ideas because they aren’t "men only" but they are quick trips or one-night activities that are "man focused" and your wife probably won’t mind going with you! (after all, how husbandly is it to take a Husband Appreciation Day trip without your wife … ) Most of these activities can probably be found in your local area, but some might be easier to find or organize than others.
Baseball Game and a Great Steak Dinner What can be more manly than a great baseball game and a fantastic steak dinner?Jetski / Waverunner Rental Obviously this is limited to areas that are close to water, but many lake and river resort areas will rent jetskis and they can be a blast!Arcade Gaming Night Remember those old classic arcade you used to play in the pizza shops and quicky marts? Well, they are still found around the country at places like Sega GameWorks and Dave and Busters.
Brewery Tours / Beer Tasting While the mega breweries of Anheuser-Busch and Miller Brewing Company are located in the Midwest, there are breweries and microbreweries across the country.Posh Hotel Suite with a Rockstar Theme These hotel suites are mostly to be found in major cities like Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Nashville, you can also adapt this idea to stay in a nice hotel closer to you and get a limo to take you to a concert.

This is the story of our marriage, the adventures we have, our love for each other, moments of laughter and our crazy busy life! We are happily married and forever young at heart.

Whoops…I didn’t even know there was such a thing as husband or wife appreciation day! I feel bad now- I thought today was only Earth day 🙂 Maybe I’ll suggest DH goes out with some guy friends tonight, but since it is Sunday I doubt he will be able to get much takers (work early tomorrow and all).
