sad anime

Even though its just a bunch of colored pictures given sound and motion, anime can make us feel just as happy or sad as any movie or drama, and it’s especially good at giving us some grief.
Takemoto’s mom is struggling to fit in with her new husband’s family, Mayama loves his widowed and damaged boss, Hagu has to survive outside her grandmother’s house for the first time in her life, Ayumi feels obligated to marry someone she loves like a brother and Morita has problems only Morita would have.
Instead, what the show focuses on is how every single member of the group is haunted by their past and unable to move on, even though they want to live good lives.
And while it may sound like traditional samurai anime fare, this show has absolutely no action.
This show lies to you; it tricks you into thinking it’s a comedy about the zany antics of five art school students.

i’ve watched all the anime that tearjerking, i’ve watched ano hana, angel beats, clannad, elfen lied, it’s depend’s on your own opinion what is the saddest, i can say i them and i’ll never forget the rest of the story, by the way one piece have to much episodes and i can’t watch all of them.

Elfen Lied for my part, havnt seen the other ones mentioned, but so far Elfen Lied made me and a friend sad for a while.
kanon 2006 makoto arc was the saddest thing I’ve seen.

I balled for days after the whole series ended, The saddest anime is sao, I cried ALLOT after Kirito said sorry to Asuna about not getting her back to the real world and she tells him about how she enjoyed every Moment with Kirito, and then tells him she loves him and what I thought was their last time together.
This is rated lower due to the fact that its not as well known as the other Animes and even though I do not know for sure (as I haven’t seen every Anime ever created, believe me when I tell you that it is definitely in the top 5 saddest Animes ever created, I read things about other Animes being sad and after watching the whole series I’m like, "ehh yeah a little here and there" this is all very sad and an amazing Anime series that truly deserves further praise.
Some examples (*ahem* heavy spoilers alert) in the anime are Eliade and Krory’s tragic love story, when Lulu attacks and destroys May-Lings innocence just after she resolves to become an exorcist, the ENTIRE Noahs Ark story arc, Suman’s ordeal of his innocence rejecting him and turning him into a destructive monster whilst it slowly killed him from the inside-out, when Tyki destroys Allens innocence and leaves him for dead, when Allen all but gives up hope and is frustrated when he can’t regain the use of his innocence, and Lenalee and Komui’s backstory as to how they ended up working in the Order.
It should be number one, are you guys serious, I mean death note is in top 10, I know that its a good anime but definitely not the sad one, on exception of misa’s fate and L’s and kira’s death but what about attack on titan and dragon ball z, the only saddest episode in dbz is the final episode and in attack on titan you get used to its plot of people getting killed.
The saddest anime series should be dependent on the content of the anime, the character backgrounds and just anything that has made them such emotional masterpieces sending people to tears.
Saddest Anime Series Anime series have been divided into several categories – comedic, romantic, mystery, science-fiction … but what has caught my attention are tragedies, or animes not necessarily tragedies but emotional ones that have caused people’s eyes to water.
LOVED THIS ANIME, it made me cry, it might not be as good as the first season but still it is at an exceptional standard, I have to say it would be very close to the top in my most saddest anime list.
THIS WAS THE MOST SADDEST, HEARTBREAKING, DEPRESSING ANIME I’ve EVER WATCHED! Of all the anime I’ve watched this one was the only anime that made me cry so hard like ! It took me days to get over crying in this anime! They’re deaths are just so TOO MUCH heartbreaking.
This anime is SO sad! HE HAS TO FIGHT TIME FOR LOVE PEOPLE! Constantly going through timelines watching the same person die over and over again and every choice he makes, someone else dies! You will cry.
Even though the first half of the show is comedic and happy, while the second half is dark and depressing, that is mainly what makes a good drama anime.
I very good anime, you can get attached to the whole story very easily and the characters, a very intriguing anime.
This anime shows love, tenderness, devotion, trust, honesty and loyalty, things that show be part of our everyday life.

Honestly, I have no idea why I’m tossing spoiler tags on this, if ya haven’t seen it at this point it’s you’re own fault.

I’ve seen some pretty sad anime, but the most sad ones I’ve seen are Grave of Fireflies and Clannad After Story.
NOTE: USE SPOILER TAGS IF YOU’RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT SAD ANIME SCENES.
Anything involving Ushio in Clannad that isn’t happy go lucky, I’m not good with little kids having a hard time.

I like the emotion and the everything gray but the tears are blue really shows how sad this anime really is but I like it.

Neil is finally given the chance to get justice for the death of his parents and sister against Ali al-Saachez but the shot doesn’t completely destroy Ali’s mobile suit so he is able to return fire and kill Neil.
Even though there isn’t proof that Spike died after his final Vicious the final episode of Cowboy Bebop is still one of the most emotional and intense episodes of any anime.

My experience with anime series right now is mostly just Shonen stuff so I haven’t seen the truly depressing shit, so my answer as of now is One Piece.
Kimi ni Todoke is up there with Clannad for me too, in my opinion the best example of why anime just does the messed up coming of age high-school romance stuff better than anything else out there.
Grave of the fireflies is probably the saddest anime I’ve ever seen.
When I was a wee lad, I saw the first Pokemon movie in the theatre and watching all the Pokemon fight each other near the end (specifically the two Pikachus beating the shit out of each other) was like literally the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever seen on a screen before.
Anohana is a little too short to get attached enough, the real kicker for Clannad is that they build the characters really nicely in the more standard harem of Season 1, ripe for the pummeling that is After Story.

I’ve watched this three times, each of which at different stages of my life and every single time it depresses me.  The first time I’ve seen it was when I was but a child and couldn’t understand what the situation was but the depiction of the kids in the Anime and their ordeals actually got to me and made me sad.  The second time was when I was an adult and understood what was going on and that really depressed me.  The third time was when I was much older and have seen a lot of other "depressing" films (Anime and non-Anime alike) and had wanted to see this again just for the heck of it, to test whether the affects of the first 2 times I’ve seen it were just flukes.  And I must say, it tugged at my heartstrings and depressed me.

Helping Jehan with the daily milk delivery to Antwerp, Nello one day discovers Patrash, a working dog who has been mistreated and abandoned by his former owner.
Anime & Manga Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for anime and manga fans.
Nello Tarth is a poor but happy orphan who lives with his grandfather Jehan in a little village nearby Antwerp.
Nello has a talent for drawing pictures and has been fascinated by it since he saw one of Rubens (a famous artist) pictures as a little boy.
A long time ago (maybe 70’s or 80’s?), I remember watching an anime about a boy from a poor family, who had rescued a dog from his abusive owner.
I've seen a question that has 9 times as much views as we have users, so by sharing your knowledge, you might help out more people in the future than you might expect.
Nontheless Nello perseveres and never gives up to achieve his dream and to win their appreciation and respect while strenuously struggling with his poverty.

People who continue to put their lives on the line to defend their faith become heroes and continue to exist on in legend.
All married people prattle on about their so-called marital bliss about how they love saying "I’m home!" to their spouses, or how seeing their sleeping kids motivates them for tomorrow.
This fake life I was never able to fit into, all the time that was lost, these false memories planted in me, giving me a life as one of the herd, and yet the truth continues to guide me toward itself.
But when the people acknowledge you, you can become Hokage.

"I hope you can hear me Ao." With that Naruto left the room.
"Rin sweetie I'm so sorry" He began as he sat on the edge of the bed in a grey suit.
It's nice to see you graduated to genin too." He grinned wildly and grabbed his new forehead protector.
"Sweetie we need to talk" Her father said quietly and sniffling.
"Just forget me" Were the last words Sasuke heard from his ex-girlfriend Rin.
"Hey Ao! Guess what i'm going to do? Today i'm going to pull another prank.
"Is it about mom?" She asked asked pulling her head up from the mountain of pillows.
"Geez, Sakura, if you weren't such an idiot then maybe we wouldn't have to take this stupid train!" snapped the man.
"Come in" She groaned rubbing her puffy eyes.
"Hey look, flower boy's here." One of the boys in my class snickered.
Sumi walked to your class after all the kids left and smiled, "Wow! nice day huh? So, how did the kids go? Were they good?" Mrs.

I've been wanting to watch a sad anime but there's a lot of them that are pretty long.

That said, this list will contain spoilers so if you do not care about spoilers or have already seen Fullmetal Alchemist, Clannad, Air, Fairy Tail, To the Forest of Fireflies’ Light, Gurren Lagann, Angel Beats!, Sword Art Online, Grave of the Fireflies, and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. Honorable mention to Euphemia’s death from Code Geass.
Though I have to give props to Maes Hughs’ death whose funeral made the Top 10 Saddest non-Death Anime Moments list, Nina’s death was just so much more tragic.
Hailed by many as the most depressing anime movies ever made, Grave of the Fireflies hardly fits the bill, it is one of the most depressing movies in general ever made, mainly because of this death.

This standalone feature film, set after the events of the Rurouni Kenshin TV series, does one thing and does it well: it takes the characters from the show and subjects them to a story of such unremitting tragedy that it borders on cruel and unusual punishment.
The live-action adaptation of the same story preserves the doomed romance as well, although the anime expands on it in a number of ways — including showing how more than one generation’s chances for happiness have been destroyed.
