summertime song

The Beach Boys’ name alone should conjure images of summer, with the Cali group’s many carefree songs about surfing, cars, and girls.
To celebrate the return of our favorite season, we’ve scoured the Billboard chart archives and updated this definitive list of the most popular songs about summer ever recorded.
Capturing the sweet sadness of saying farewell to summer , Chad & Jeremy employ delicate, simple vocals over chugging drums and rich acoustic guitar plucks.
Over a catchy drum beat and spacey guitar, the emotionally distraught Martha Davis explains in a hot, dusty voice that though the seasons change, that doesn’t mean the summer has to end.
With heavy eyeliner and a snarling, guitar-driven swagger, Alice Cooper took the sweet, innocent idea of the first day of summer break, and turned it into an emancipation proclamation for ditching class permanently.
As is often the case, the Beach Boys pay homage to their favorite sport in their 1962 pop hit "Surfin’ Safari," with lines about loading up their Woodie — that’s a ‘board-friendly station wagon for you gremmies — and inviting the world to the best beaches for waves.

The first single released to Country radio from the CAPTAINS & COWBOYS CD, this is a fun-loving tune I penned with my buddy Tim Buppert on an early spring day when all you want to do is skip school, skip work and play hookey.

Nice collection but no summer song list is complete without including "Summertime is Great" by Three Beat Slide.
Why? Because the nature of the perfect summer song is that it makes you feel good: It lifts the heart, puts a little sweat under the armpits, makes you feel like the city might just be yours for the taking today.
Well, I must say I was rather disappointed to see Sinatra’s "Summer Wind" omitted from this list as well as not one Jimmy Buffet song being included.
This song is deceptively simple—there aren’t many verses, and there’s a pretty long instrumental interlude right in the middle—but few tunes are as evocative of summer as this one.
It may be that the only thing better than a summer fling is relishing the memory of a summer fling, and one spin of soulstresses Martha and the Vandellas’ 1963 classic “(Love Is Like a) Heat Wave” will likely bring it all back.
We’re willing to bet you love at least 98% of the songs on our list of the best summer songs.

“It was written 30 years after Madam Butterfly and 20 years before Peter Grimes,” says David Shrubsole, musical director and orchestrator of the new Open Air version, “America was defining its own classical style, turning away from European serialism and atonalism.
“The most famous song in Porgy and Bess is over within the first five minutes,” explains Timothy Sheader, artistic director of a new production at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre.
“It’s a little song, more a poem than a novel,” concludes Ben Hall, “but the tonal ambiguity at its heart means that when a performance of Summertime ends you’re instinctively waiting for the next one to start.
Viewed prosaically, however, it’s less a song than a song snippet, a verse and a chorus repeated twice, taken from a self-styled “folk opera”, Porgy and Bess, whose initial 1935 Broadway run was far from a success.
“There are parallels with Im Wunderschönen Monat Mai from Schumann’s Dichterliebe,” says Ben Hall, head of Music at Chichester University, “They are both about a time of year and about impermanence, and both have a clever state of flux between contented and uneasy, between major key and relative minor.
Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II’s musical Showboat led the way in 1927, but Gershwin was experimenting with similar fusions as far back as his Harlem-set, one-act “jazz opera” Blue Monday in 1922.
Gershwin wrote Porgy and Bess with Heywood, following the plot of the original novel/play about life in a black community in the Deep South.
“It’s sung as a lullaby by a young mother to a restless child, serenely setting up the harmony in this community that’s going to be broken by the conflict of the play.

Armed with an amazing rockabilly riff (so good that it was later covered by The Who), ‘Summertime Blues’ pulverizes with Cochran’s “gee, shucks” vocal style and jumping, speed demon rhythms.

Having explored these issues in his previous work – last year his music video for his song “Double Dose” was shot in various locations throughout San Francisco during the Giants World Series Riot – A-1 continues to provide a commentary about social issues facing young people in his community, this time aided by collaborator Sam Woostaar, who recorded, mixed and mastered the track as well as provided the artwork.
With a production style that he describes as piling “a whole bunch of aggressiveness and energy on top” of an already gloomy record, the Hemsworth remix allowed A-1 to explore themes of unrest, crime and violence among young people in the city that are often amplified by the brutal heat, long days and ample free time that summer provides.
Upon hearing a remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” by Canadian DJ and producer Ryan Hemsworth,San Francisco based rapper A-1 knew the levitra discussionsdiscount priced levitra’>levitra discussionsdiscount priced levitra track was perfectly suited to his unexpectedly somber reminiscing on real life summertime experiences.

But for those people who hear the “Summertime Sadness” remix on the radio (and yes, it’s true, she does benefit from her name being more recognizable now than ever), it’ll probably be their first introduction to LDR.
Since there’s likely to be no mention of Gervais or the fact that it’s a remix, many of those same people (for example, my own cousin and sister) might simply assume that this is what LDR sounds like on a regular basis: catchy and primed for real fist-pumping, strobe light-happy action.

When I think of New Gold Dream, I think that’s the album where Simple Minds arrived and I think the Someone Somewhere (In Summertime) songwriting craft also gives the feeling that we’d arrived – that we’d reached some kind of maturity." – Jim, Sunday Herald interview, 2008.
Conceived during the writing sessions in Fife, it was originally known as Summer Song, a title it kept even after officially becoming Someone Somewhere (In Summertime), and being logged with the shorter title by the BBC during one of the band’s session recordings.
The track was written as "Someone Somewere In Summertime" on all formats of the album and as "Someone Somwewhere (In Summertime)" on all foramts of the subsequent single.

Bless these windows shining bright, Letting in God's heav'nly light; Bless the hearth a'blazing there, with smoke ascending like a prayer; Bless the folk who dwell within, keep them pure and free from sin; Bless us all that we may be Fit O Lord to dwell with thee; Bless us all that one day we May dwell O Lord with thee.
Bless this house O Lord we pray; Make it safe by night and day; Bless these walls so firm and stout, Keeping want and trouble out: Bless the roof and chimneys tall, Let thy peace lie over all; Bless this door, that it may prove ever open to joy and love.
