make up application tips

Some days I enjoy playing with all the different colors and get excited when my smoky eye turns out perfectly. But then there are those days when my liner refuses to go on straight, my bronzer makes me look like an Asian Snookie, or my lashes refuse to curl. That’s when I want to toss my makeup bag out my bathroom window. I had one of those days last week, and after walking into work wearing two very different winged tips on my eyes, my editor assigned me a new story: Go to makeup school and write about it. Certainly you’re not hitting the tanning bed before prom (that would be dangerous on top of being dreadful), and how were you to know your face wasn’t exactly matching, well, the rest of you? To help you out (and hopefully avoid a last-minute wrestling match between you, your bronzing powder, and a giant makeup brush) we consulted Young and another makeup pro, Allan Avendao, on how to do (tasteful) body makeup for a big event. This will be your base for all three looks: Step 1: Corrector and ConcealerApply corrector with a brush, under your eyes where your skin is dark. Be sure not to miss the inner corner right next to your nose. We used Bobbi Brown […]

steps to applying makeup

A make-up primer is used as a base layer before you put on your make-up. It usually has a bit of silicon in it to help the make-up stay all day and to keep the skin nice and smooth and give you a lovely even base to start with. That’s is going to help it last all day without creasing, bleeding, or smudging. You do not have to use a different product when priming the eyes, but it is a good idea to use something with a little bit of pigment, this will knock out any darkness or colour, if you have any purple or blue underneath the eyes or in the eyelid. It gives you a lovely nice base that is going to give you an even colour that is going to give you true colour of your shadow once you put your eye shadow on. Lean down, and […]

how to put on makeup professionally

The actress told Huff/Post50 that with age has come more clarity and focus — attributes she said she didn’t necessarily have in her 20s and 30s. When it comes to aging and beauty, Sarandon takes an admirable “to-each-their-own” mentality, telling The Independent she would never weigh-in on what people do to make themselves happy. Sarandon has said: “The only thing I’d say is that learning how to forgive yourself for not being perfect is probably a really positive step.” The legendary crooner has a straightforward, make-no-apologies take on age. I’ve done my best work, I think, now,” he said. Modesty and a healthy dose of humor are keys to Mirren aging so gracefully. “I think it was recognition of the fact that you don’t have to be perfect.” The cancer survivor told Health.com that she is enjoying the aging process: When you shoot your face with Botox and stuff, you […]

how to apply face makeup

I often leave the house feeling gorgeous in only sunscreen, mascara and lip gloss. The most important part of your beauty routine is to get your skin in tip-top shape. Once you have a fresh, gorgeous palette to paint on, you only need to highlight your eyes or your lips or perhaps your bronzed skin (hello bronzer!) for the perfect look. If you have oily skin, rinse face with warm water and pat dry before applying sunscreen. Apply concealer Apply concealer with your ring finger to the spots that need it most (under the eye, in the hollow sockets on the inside of the eye, along the nose, on the chin). I find it works better than my finger to get into the spots I need it most. Foundation is Next Apply a tinted moisturizer or foundation to your face making sure to blend along the jawline so you don’t […]

how to apply makeup correctly

Makeup done well can make eyes pop, it can plump up a wrinkled face and play down a large nose. In this article, I’ll show you how to apply makeup, what order it should be applied in and I’ll share some of my favorite tricks along the way. Is There an Order to Applying Makeup? I don’t believe in beauty rules, only tricks (although when I first started writing, I was all about rules, but I’ve softened my stance). After a good sunscreen (at least SPF 30), you should start with moisturizer, a rich facial balm (if it’s winter) or a foundation primer to plump up skin and fill in fine lines and large pores. Dot a pink- or peach-colored corrective concealer onto the dark areas under eyes and in the corner of eyes and around the nose and mouth. The makeup artist’s secret is to brighten the face with […]
