uncommon symptoms of pregnancy

What’s up with that? Early in a pregnancy, some women feel nauseous all the time, have a higher body temp, and feel wiped out all the time—just like you do when you have the flu.
Early on in a pregnancy, your boobs grow rapidly—they can increase by a full cup size or more—because they’re storing fat and the milk glands are increasing in size.

Implantation bleeding, or spotting, is one of the more uncommon pregnancy signs and symptoms, but it is sometimes one of the first things a woman will notice when she is pregnant.
Some women are more tuned into changes in their body and may notice some of the uncommon pregnancy signs and symptoms sooner than others.
Did you know there are uncommon pregnancy signs and symptoms that will give you clues as to whether or not you are pregnant? Uncommon pregnancy symptoms are pretty good indicators that you should go to the doctor and have a pregnancy test done as soon as possible.
Feeling "spacey."  During part of pregnancy I didn’t want to read much or do anything that required hard thought.  It was weird.  Since I to read, it was sort of strange.
One of the toughest parts of trying to get pregnant has to be playing the waiting game each month to see whether or not you get your period and, of course, whether or not you wind up with a positive home pregnancy test.
But even though you can’t confirm things until you get two pink lines or a plus sign on a test stick, there are some really early pregnancy symptoms that might be an indication that you have a baby on board even if it’s way too early to officially detect things yet.
That’s actually what made me go take a pregnancy test, cause I wasn’t actually late yet (my DS was a bit of a surprise)! I could seriously smell the kitchen trash from upstairs in our bedroom with the door shut… and there wasn’t even anything particularly stinky in there to make it extra bad or anything.
Like Sarah above, my breasts literally grew 1 size in a few hours.  I wore the bra to work and when I got home my breasts kept on popping out of the bra.  I didn’t allow myself to believe it 100%.
In fact, I told DH the next morning after we DTD on his birthday the night before, "I’m pretty sure we made a baby." Two weeks later, I woke up with throbbing, painful boobs, nausea and acne.
These are all just pms symptoms, and it’s a bad idea to list them because then crazy women ttc think every little ping or symptom means they could be pregnant even when they’re not.
Obviously both of our intuitions turned out to be spot on, so there really must be some truth to the idea that some women "just know" they’re pregnant right from the get-go.
Wacky, embarrassing and truly gross pregnancy side effects that your doctor may forget to mention.
Morning sickness is probably the best known of the early pregnancy symptoms, but many people don’t realize the term is inaccurate.
But there are many lesser known pregnancy symptoms that rival morning sickness – which, by the way, doesn’t only strike in the morning.
"I’ve heard of morning sickness, but nobody ever told me that brushing my teeth would bring it on," she tells WebMD.
Fatigue tends to be most common in the first trimester, Lindsay says, but often occurs later in pregnancy as well.
Later in the pregnancy, frequent bathroom breaks are often caused by an enlarged uterus (and the rapidly growing baby inside) putting pressure on the bladder.
Perhaps the most common of all these pregnancy unusual symptoms are skin issues, starting with the itching sensation that seems to affect the entire body and ending with the loose skin noticed in the underarms or belly.

The same thing happened with my first pregnancy (though unfortunately, that pregnancy didn’t last more than 10 weeks) so when I felt it again I was excited, but nervous because I didn’t want to go through a possible miscarriage again.
I wouldn’t say my first symptom was "weird’ since actually it’s considered a normal symptom of early pregnancy, but at about 4 1/2 weeks, almost 5 weeks, my breasts were so incredibly sore.

You can have so many different symptoms during pregnancy that hardly anything you might experience can be considered “abnormal.” Changes to your body can cause a lot of distress and worry, so it is always a good idea to express any concerns to your doctor.
In addition to the more common signs of pregnancy — fatigue, nausea, frequent urination, breast enlargement, mood swings, and a metallic taste in the mouth — some women experience unexpected symptoms.
Many unusual symptoms can be attributed to increased levels of pregnancy hormones in your body, such as estrogen and progesterone, and are actually normal.
Got a negative this morning but may need to wait a couple more days, very early period just ended a few days ago but my limbs are sleepy, I’m cold, moody, hungry and my son has told me several times there’s a baby in my belly.
It could be the placebo effect of having unprotected sex with my husband for th first time, but I’ve found myself picking out names and thinking, “If I’m pregnant, I’d be totally okay with that,” Which isn’t like me, because I’ve never had a desire to have children (I am terrified of childbirth).
I think i could be pregnant need some advice!! Last month my period was 3 days late and short ive had racing heartbeat, and very forgetful, nausea, my son is very clingy, smelling everything, and very tired.
I keep telling myself it’s not possible, but I have sore breasts, I am peeing a lot and having trouble with, uh, the other (lol), my breasts are horridly sore, I want to eat ALL the time (milk, eggs and steak – I WAS a vegan, but not anymore, can’t get enough of steak and milk – milk has become an obsession!), I feel warm (I’m usually freezing), I am constantly stuffed up, I have HORRIBLE sudden-onset headaches, I suddenly want to talk to mothers of mall children, I am more productive, and weirdly enough, I found myself suddenly wanting to quit smoking.
My husband told me last night he thinks I’m pregnant because he ate the quantity of 3 dinner plates within like an hour and a half and was still hungry and he got super hungry when I was pregnant with our son, and both times his ex was pregnant with their girls lol.
Bottom line, this whole trying to figure out (and it being my first time to try) is very tricky! I guess I’ll take another test in a few days unless mother nature visits.
Hello all reading all of the above makes all of sense.. but I have a weird situation.. hope I dont gross anyone out but here it is hope I can get some advice and thoughts.. on aug 16 I had sex n then got a light period the same day, but I just got over my period a week before.. I have this light period which was brown spots not red for about 5 days.. then 2 days later I got my full blown period cramps and all..that latest for 7 days.. had sex again right after on the 31st and again I have light spotting.. this past week around 1-3pm I get nauseous n it goes away.
& in the past couple of days I’ve had a butterfly feeling without the nervousness on the right hand side of my stomach.. nipples are sore, but the rest of my boob is fine, that’s why my attention was brought to the fact I might be.. because when i menstruate normally my whole boob(s) are sore & have a dragging pain.
Dreams, clingy child, dark rings around my nipples, and sore breasts! All things when I know for sure I’m pregnant.
Not supposed to get my next shot for another couple weeks but I’ve had increased gas burping and everything I was nauseated for days and I’ve had mild cramps but I’ve noticed that the inside of my stomach feels really weird.
Could easily go for a siesta! Peeing takes forever.. it’s more frequent & it’s sometimes not even worth going for, but the urge to pee is strong, even if it’s a pathetic amount.. pee also looks darker & smells strange.. almost like cooked chicken?! Weird & probably tmi.. I’m sorry! A little cloudy today as well.
I’ve talked to a few of my friends about their first very early symptoms of being pregnant.
The mask of pregnancy is more common among darker-skinned women, although fair-skinned moms-to-be may notice that freckles, beauty marks and other skin spots darken during pregnancy.
The same pregnancy hormones that will give you a luxurious head of hair (during pregnancy, hair falls out at a much slower rate than normal) are responsible for the unsightly growth of tiny hairs where you want them the least.
In the second trimester, these aversions usually give way to a voracious appetite for anything edible; and the need for extra protein is more important later in pregnancy than in the first trimester.
When you’ve finally finished nursing and your breasts have returned to normal (a relative term, of course), you’re likely to find that they’re somewhat smaller and decidedly less perky than they were before baby.
A condition known as pregnancy gingivitis causes swollen, sensitive gums that are prone to bleeding.
First-time pregnant women are sometimes horrified to witness fine, dark hair spreading across their bellies and jawbones, and prickly hairs sprouting with alarming frequency from the chin, upper lip, and even around the nipples.
Another phenomenon that may affect gums during pregnancy, although it’s rare, is the development of harmless nodes on the gums known as pyogenic granulomas.
Make sure you’re getting enough calcium, which your baby also needs, and cut out soft drinks, which contain high amounts of phosphorous (and empty calories that aren’t good for you).
Anyone who’s ever watched a sitcom or had a pregnant acquaintance knows the stereotypical gripes and complaints: morning sickness (aka all-day queasiness with or without vomiting), exhaustion, insatiable appetites for bizarre food combinations like fudge ripple ice cream with sardines on top, and of course the quarter-hourly trips to the potty.
It’s not enough that your back hurts, your head hurts, you’re exhausted, and you feel like throwing up all day—your gums just might decide to get in on the act by bleeding every time you brush or floss.
The resulting “mask of pregnancy,” or chloasma, causes irregular dark blotches on the forehead, nose and cheeks.
But women frequently find that, in their first trimester, they are repulsed by the taste, smell, and even sight of foods that were previously a mainstay of their diets.
Pregnancy hormones can jump start your body’s production of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color.
Of course, these food aversions are often triggered or exacerbated by another wacky pregnancy symptom—a super-human sense of smell.

Leg cramps are a more common pregnancy symptom in later pregnancy, but I hadn’t yet heard of small muscle twitches being the little red flag of impending motherhood.
. emotional-ness. These are all well and good – well, maybe not good – but I’m here to talk about weird pregnancy symptoms that sometimes occur, but aren’t mentioned in most books.

Pregnancy triggers sudden hormonal changes in the body and this can lead to yeast infections of the vagina in many women.
Though there is no scientific base to this fact, many women feel a metallic taste inside their mouth in the early days of pregnancy.
But the fact is that most women miss the initial stages of pregnancy as they discover that they are pregnant only after a month or two.
This happens as a result of high estrogen levels in the body and increased blood flow due to which nose bleeds too are common in pregnant women.
However, contradicting this theory, some women also report that they have reduced or no hair growth in the legs during pregnancy.
Pregnancy is a very important phase in a woman’s life and all women want to enjoy every single moment of it.
But there are other symptoms that I have experienced over the past 6 months that I wanted to describe a bit more to prepare all of you trying to conceive folks! Please feel free to chime in and leave a comment on how you experienced pregnancy symptoms.

&quot; There are medications you can take for headaches, and usually we can nurse a mother along until the second half of her pregnancy&quot; when the problem usually subsides, he said.</p> <p> While garden-variety headaches are harmless, they can be symptoms of more serious problems, such as brain hemorrhaging or tumors, or they can also occasionally precede seizures that are caused by eclampsia (the serious condition that follows preeclampsia).</p> <p> Pregnant women should not be alarmed by headaches, because in most serious cases, the headache is accompanied by other neurological symptoms such as weakness on one side of the body.
<p> Having blood clots, properly called thrombosis, is a potentially dangerous condition that women are six times more likely to contract when they are pregnant, thanks to hormonal shifts that increase coagulating factors in the blood.</p> <p> &quot; If you just have a simple clot, that&#39;s relatively easy to treat,&quot; Glantz said.
Iron is a key ingredient for creating red blood cells, but many women don&#39;t have adequate stores of iron to keep up with the demands of the huge increase in blood volume, and growing placenta and fetus.</p> <p> While the condition isn&#39;t immediately serious, it can lead to other problems such as premature labor, low birth-weight, preeclampsia, and later developmental problems in children.</p> <p> Researchers estimate that about 56 million pregnant women suffer from the condition globally, with the majority of these occurring in developing countries, where up to 80 percent of pregnant women can have anemia.
Those that have it often snack on dirt (known as &quot;geophagia&quot;), uncooked starch (&quot;amylophagia&quot;) or ice (&quot;pagophagia&quot;), but pica can also cause women to eat paint chips, charcoal paper, baby powder, chalk and ash.</p> <p> The practice was first described in the 4th century BC by Hippocrates, and it has remained an enigma, with scientists still guessing at <a href=" ;>why pica happens</a> and what, if any, are its consequences.
<p> This issue plagues so many pregnant women that &quot;the women who don&#39;t have it, would be the exception,&quot; Glanz said.</p> <p> Researchers estimate1 in 2 of every pregnant women suffers from back pain, and this prevalence increases up to 75 percent by the third trimester.
&nbsp;&quot; One reason is because women who are pregnant are getting heavier.&quot;</p> <p> In most cases, women can manage the condition by eating an appropriate diet and exercising.
&nbsp;</p> <p> Given these <a href=" ;>dramatic physical transformations</a>, it&#39;s not surprising that pregnancy increases women&#39;s risk for some unpleasant, and sometimes dangerous, conditions.&nbsp;</p> <p> &quot; It would be unusual for a woman to not have at least one of those symptoms, if not several,&quot; said Dr.
&quot; But if you don&#39;t treat it, it can break off and potentially travel into heart and the lungs, and this can be life-threatening.&quot;</p> <p> In fact, the problem isthe most common cause of <a href=" ;>death in pregnant women</a> in Western countries.
&nbsp;</p> <p> &quot;Physiologically, every pregnant woman retains fluid,&quot; Glantz said, &quot;and we walk upright, so that&#39;s where the fluid collects.&quot; &nbsp;</p> <p> The treatment is pretty basic &mdash; put your feet up.
(Folic acid helps promote the production of new red blood cells.)</p> <p> &quot; The best thing would be to tank up on iron before you get pregnant,&quot; Glantz said.
&nbsp;</p> <p> Preeclampsia affects 5 to 7 percent of pregnant women, and the risk generally increases with a woman&#39;s age, according to a 2012 study from Finland.
Christopher Glantz, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, N.Y.&nbsp; &quot;It&#39;s very uncommon that they portend something more serious.&quot;</p> <p> However, doctors keep a sharp eye out for the warning signs that something serious may be occurring.
Those with a high body-mass index (BMI), excessive weight gain and low physical activity during pregnancy and a family history of diabetes are especially vulnerable to developing the condition.</p> <p> &quot; The rate has been going up over the years,&quot; Glanz said.
A higher BMI, and gestational diabetes can also predispose a woman to the condition.</p> <p> Researchers still aren&#39;t sure <a href=" ;>what causes preeclampsia</a>, although several ideas exist, including abnormal formation of the placenta,&nbsp;or malfunctions in the mother&#39;s immune response.
&nbsp;</p> <p> Typically, these changes are relatively harmless, and healthy women with no history of heart disease are at no increased risk for <a href=" ;>cardiovascular problems when pregnant</a>.
Here the cervical fluid may have unusual colour and smell. It usually happens due to increased hormones and vaginal blood flow, however, talk to your doctor if it develops a foul odor, itches or burns, or becomes greenish-yellow or very thick or watery; you may have an infection.

McKinlee Burger was born on September 22, 2010, when her mother was 36 weeks pregnant but didn’t know it.
While women who are pregnant don’t have their periods exactly, it is possible to have bleeding related to hormonal changes of pregnancy, said Sukhan, who did not treat Burger.
Doctors determined that Prentice appeared to be seven or eight months pregnant, and decided to send her to the larger medical center at Vanderbilt in Nashville.
There are several risks involved in having a baby if the mother didn’t know she was pregnant for so many months.

"A pregnant woman’s gums can become engorged with blood, creating deep pockets with tender tissue, and bleed during brushing or flossing," explains Gildo Corradi, D.D.S., a dentist in New York City.

The pregnancy hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) isn’t detectable until at least two weeks after conception–basically around the time of your missed period.
The incidence of tubal ectopic pregnancy was 32.90 per 1000 deliveries and unruptured cases formed 5.43%. Lack of awareness of early pregnancy, late reporting by women to health care facilities when aware of pregnancy and failure of health care providers to utilize the diagnostic aids for detecting unruptured ectopic pregnancy (like serum beta human chorionic gonadotrophin and ultrasonography) were the main reasons for the low detection rates.
In conclusion, the rate of detection of unruptured ectopic pregnancy is very low mainly due to late reporting to hospital by women when pregnant and inability of the health care providers to suspect it when faced with early pregnancy problems of lower abdominal pain and irregular vaginal bleeding.
Though it is not that easy to diagnose unruptured ectopic pregnancy, it is important for health care providers to suspect it in cases of young women complaining of amenorrhoea, lower abdominal pain and irregular vaginal bleeding even in a stable condition.
Health education to encourage women to attend clinic early in pregnancy, especially when experiencing unusual symptoms of lower abdominal pain and irregular vaginal bleeding could help in the diagnosis of unruptured ectopic pregnancy.
Although laparoscopy is still considered the gold standard in the diagnosis of unruptured ectopic pregnancy, the use of high-resolution endovaginal ultrasonography, in conjunction with two or more quantitative serum assays of the beta sub-unit of human chorionic gonadotrophin, allows the detection of earlier and smaller ectopic pregnancies in 89% – 100% of cases11.
