weird pregnancy symptoms

Early on in a pregnancy, your boobs grow rapidly—they can increase by a full cup size or more—because they’re storing fat and the milk glands are increasing in size.
What’s up with that? Early in a pregnancy, some women feel nauseous all the time, have a higher body temp, and feel wiped out all the time—just like you do when you have the flu.

Huffing and puffing walking up the steps to your apartment? This is a symptom that will follow most women through their entire pregnancy but can be especially alarming (and annoying) in the beginning of pregnancy when the body requires more oxygen to grow the embryo.
Why? The extra estrogen that surges during pregnancy can cause an increase in congestion and the extra blood flow (yep, pregnancy creates more blood!) also contributes to swelling in the sinuses.
Reaching for the tissues in June? Early pregnancy (annnnd, well, the whole pregnancy) can cause rhinitis of pregnancy which is basically a stuffed up, runny nose that can also lead to a scratchy throat.
While some early detection pregnancy tests claim to be able to tell you earlier than that, your best bet is to wait until the day after you expected your period to test.
The pregnancy hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) isn’t detectable until at least two weeks after conception–basically around the time of your missed period.

Why are your feet suddenly expanding? Why does your favorite food suddenly make you nauseous? And why are you constantly … leaking? If you’re wondering why all these “symptoms” keep popping up, what’s normal, and when to talk to your doc, we’ve got your guide.

Wacky, embarrassing and truly gross pregnancy side effects that your doctor may forget to mention.

Morning sickness is probably the best known of the early pregnancy symptoms, but many people don’t realize the term is inaccurate.
But there are many lesser known pregnancy symptoms that rival morning sickness – which, by the way, doesn’t only strike in the morning.
"I’ve heard of morning sickness, but nobody ever told me that brushing my teeth would bring it on," she tells WebMD.
Fatigue tends to be most common in the first trimester, Lindsay says, but often occurs later in pregnancy as well.
Later in the pregnancy, frequent bathroom breaks are often caused by an enlarged uterus (and the rapidly growing baby inside) putting pressure on the bladder.

One of the toughest parts of trying to get pregnant has to be playing the waiting game each month to see whether or not you get your period and, of course, whether or not you wind up with a positive home pregnancy test.
Feeling "spacey."  During part of pregnancy I didn’t want to read much or do anything that required hard thought.  It was weird.  Since I to read, it was sort of strange.
But even though you can’t confirm things until you get two pink lines or a plus sign on a test stick, there are some really early pregnancy symptoms that might be an indication that you have a baby on board even if it’s way too early to officially detect things yet.
That’s actually what made me go take a pregnancy test, cause I wasn’t actually late yet (my DS was a bit of a surprise)! I could seriously smell the kitchen trash from upstairs in our bedroom with the door shut… and there wasn’t even anything particularly stinky in there to make it extra bad or anything.
Like Sarah above, my breasts literally grew 1 size in a few hours.  I wore the bra to work and when I got home my breasts kept on popping out of the bra.  I didn’t allow myself to believe it 100%.
These are all just pms symptoms, and it’s a bad idea to list them because then crazy women ttc think every little ping or symptom means they could be pregnant even when they’re not.
In fact, I told DH the next morning after we DTD on his birthday the night before, "I’m pretty sure we made a baby." Two weeks later, I woke up with throbbing, painful boobs, nausea and acne.
Obviously both of our intuitions turned out to be spot on, so there really must be some truth to the idea that some women "just know" they’re pregnant right from the get-go.

He’ll check for gingivitis, inflammation of the gums, and periodontitis, a severe version that also affects surrounding ligaments and bone, and which is associated with a higher risk of preterm labor and low birthweight, as well as tooth loss, stroke, and other serious problems.
Be sure to use sunscreen on your sensitive skin, and know that the skin issues will go away after pregnancy except for the pigmentation of your areolas (which likely won’t ever lighten completely) and the tags, which your doctor can easily remove if they bother you.
"A pregnant woman’s gums can become engorged with blood, creating deep pockets with tender tissue, and bleed during brushing or flossing," explains Gildo Corradi, D.D.S., a dentist in New York City.
You may discover that along with other parts of your body, your gums swell, thanks to changing levels of progesterone and estrogen, and increased blood flow.
You have probably heard that pregnancy hormones can cause acne, sun sensitivity, and darkening of the skin (usually around the nipples, on the face, and in a strip down your belly called the linea nigra).
Blame it on the hormone relaxin: It loosens ligaments in your pelvis to allow the baby to come out, but it may have a lasting effect on the joints in your feet, causing them to flatten and become wider and/or longer.

The same thing happened with my first pregnancy (though unfortunately, that pregnancy didn’t last more than 10 weeks) so when I felt it again I was excited, but nervous because I didn’t want to go through a possible miscarriage again.
I wouldn’t say my first symptom was "weird’ since actually it’s considered a normal symptom of early pregnancy, but at about 4 1/2 weeks, almost 5 weeks, my breasts were so incredibly sore.
Orgasm in my sleep! For real! Only happens when I’m pregnant and it was my FIRST symptom with this pregnancy.
Gabz that sounds like my friend and her dr told her it was a supernumery nipple and very common to show up with all the hormones in pregnancy sure enough went away after each pregnancy.

Got a negative this morning but may need to wait a couple more days, very early period just ended a few days ago but my limbs are sleepy, I’m cold, moody, hungry and my son has told me several times there’s a baby in my belly.
I think i could be pregnant need some advice!! Last month my period was 3 days late and short ive had racing heartbeat, and very forgetful, nausea, my son is very clingy, smelling everything, and very tired.
My husband told me last night he thinks I’m pregnant because he ate the quantity of 3 dinner plates within like an hour and a half and was still hungry and he got super hungry when I was pregnant with our son, and both times his ex was pregnant with their girls lol.
Bottom line, this whole trying to figure out (and it being my first time to try) is very tricky! I guess I’ll take another test in a few days unless mother nature visits.
& in the past couple of days I’ve had a butterfly feeling without the nervousness on the right hand side of my stomach.. nipples are sore, but the rest of my boob is fine, that’s why my attention was brought to the fact I might be.. because when i menstruate normally my whole boob(s) are sore & have a dragging pain.
Not supposed to get my next shot for another couple weeks but I’ve had increased gas burping and everything I was nauseated for days and I’ve had mild cramps but I’ve noticed that the inside of my stomach feels really weird.
Hello all reading all of the above makes all of sense.. but I have a weird situation.. hope I dont gross anyone out but here it is hope I can get some advice and thoughts.. on aug 16 I had sex n then got a light period the same day, but I just got over my period a week before.. I have this light period which was brown spots not red for about 5 days.. then 2 days later I got my full blown period cramps and all..that latest for 7 days.. had sex again right after on the 31st and again I have light spotting.. this past week around 1-3pm I get nauseous n it goes away.
Dreams, clingy child, dark rings around my nipples, and sore breasts! All things when I know for sure I’m pregnant.
Could easily go for a siesta! Peeing takes forever.. it’s more frequent & it’s sometimes not even worth going for, but the urge to pee is strong, even if it’s a pathetic amount.. pee also looks darker & smells strange.. almost like cooked chicken?! Weird & probably tmi.. I’m sorry! A little cloudy today as well.
It was weird for me because for weeks I couldn’t sleep and then other weeks I’d sleep 14 hours at a time.
I’ve talked to a few of my friends about their first very early symptoms of being pregnant.

The mask of pregnancy is more common among darker-skinned women, although fair-skinned moms-to-be may notice that freckles, beauty marks and other skin spots darken during pregnancy.
The same pregnancy hormones that will give you a luxurious head of hair (during pregnancy, hair falls out at a much slower rate than normal) are responsible for the unsightly growth of tiny hairs where you want them the least.
In the second trimester, these aversions usually give way to a voracious appetite for anything edible; and the need for extra protein is more important later in pregnancy than in the first trimester.
When you’ve finally finished nursing and your breasts have returned to normal (a relative term, of course), you’re likely to find that they’re somewhat smaller and decidedly less perky than they were before baby.
A condition known as pregnancy gingivitis causes swollen, sensitive gums that are prone to bleeding.
First-time pregnant women are sometimes horrified to witness fine, dark hair spreading across their bellies and jawbones, and prickly hairs sprouting with alarming frequency from the chin, upper lip, and even around the nipples.
Another phenomenon that may affect gums during pregnancy, although it’s rare, is the development of harmless nodes on the gums known as pyogenic granulomas.
Make sure you’re getting enough calcium, which your baby also needs, and cut out soft drinks, which contain high amounts of phosphorous (and empty calories that aren’t good for you).
Anyone who’s ever watched a sitcom or had a pregnant acquaintance knows the stereotypical gripes and complaints: morning sickness (aka all-day queasiness with or without vomiting), exhaustion, insatiable appetites for bizarre food combinations like fudge ripple ice cream with sardines on top, and of course the quarter-hourly trips to the potty.
It’s not enough that your back hurts, your head hurts, you’re exhausted, and you feel like throwing up all day—your gums just might decide to get in on the act by bleeding every time you brush or floss.
The resulting “mask of pregnancy,” or chloasma, causes irregular dark blotches on the forehead, nose and cheeks.
But women frequently find that, in their first trimester, they are repulsed by the taste, smell, and even sight of foods that were previously a mainstay of their diets.
Pregnancy hormones can jump start your body’s production of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color.
Of course, these food aversions are often triggered or exacerbated by another wacky pregnancy symptom—a super-human sense of smell.

From cravings, to sickness, to a heightened sense of smell, the things that happen to a woman’s body during pregnancy can seem strange without an explanation.
Foods, perfumes, gas fumes, body odor, dogs, cats, everything has a very distinct smell to a pregnant woman.
The good thing is, sickness during pregnancy is very normal and won’t cause any harm unless the woman is regurgitating all her nutrients, in which case a doctor should be seen.
Some scientists believe that the heightened sense helps protect the woman and unborn child, keeping the woman from consuming or coming into contact with harmful foods and substances.
In a Parents.com article, Janet Pope, PhD, of Louisiana Tech University, says that fruit, milk, chocolate, and salt are the most craved of pregnant women, which may be the body’s way of stocking up on vitamin c and calcium.

My normal pg symptoms are super duper tiredness and crazy, pyscho mood swings.
This time my weird symptoms were that I was/am breaking out in and that my hair has been really oily.

The rising pregnancy hormone (estrogen) levels are responsible for most of the early symptoms while the later signs may result from certain other factors such as the growing uterus and the increased blood volume.
The pregnancy hormone levels, responsible for most of the signs, are even higher in a multiple pregnancy while the elevation of blood volume is also greater to provide oxygen and nutrients to multiple fetuses.
For about 2 months i have had severe pelvic pain, have been nauseous, been more tired than usual, had frequent urination, dry mouth, increased appetite, dry itchy skin, severe acne, thick yellowish white mucus, headaches, dizziness/lightheadedness/blackouts, and strange dreams.
The body changes in pregnancy leads to multiple signs and symptoms that often vary in degree of severity from one woman to another.
I have had severe allergies, nausea, joint pain in my knees, digestion problems, increased fluid discharge, what may have been implantation bleeding because I hadn’t had a period, my period was 15 days late, granted I just moved from the us to Japan.
However, most women start experiencing the early signs in the 3rd or 4th week of pregnancy with implantation bleeding or spotting (brown vaginal discharge) often being the initial sign.

Forgetfulness, confusion, the tip of the tongue feeling and general fogginess are among the other annoying and weird pregnancy symptoms that women may experience.
But some women tend to experience the sort of weird and unusual pregnancy symptoms that most of us wouldn’t even associate with pregnancy.
Nose bleeds and bleeding gums are among other strange symptoms women experience in pregnancy.
Hair changes are also common and thick luxuriant hair like you never had before may be among the more welcome of the unusual pregnancy symptoms you experience.
Flatulence with foul smelling gas or even some rather uncouth seeming belching could be some of the embarrassing but unavoidable, unusual pregnancy symptoms.
A strange metallic taste in the mouth is sometimes one of the unusual pregnancy symptoms.

If in case any of the cited weird pregnancy symptoms are noticed, it is only prudent to consult with a physician to not only relieve the discomforts they bring but, more importantly, to find out if a woman is indeed pregnant as well.
Regardless, such symptoms increase the anxiety and confusion associated with pregnancy and makes it difficult for a woman to become aware of pregnancy.
Lots of mothers-to-be become confused to whether such weird pregnancy symptoms are indicative of any complication.
Even a few do not inform their doctors with regard to such pregnancy symptoms which is a big no-no for the overall health of the growing fetus.
Put simply, proper knowledge of these weird pregnancy symptoms is crucial for each and every expectant mom.
Women, whilst planning pregnancy, aren’t only particularly conscious but are even primed to face such common early pregnancy symptoms.

I am sooo bloated and feel a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen, like if I lean against the counter, it hits me right beneath my belly button and sends a mild but shooting pain through to my back.
Getting hot flashes – feel extremely warm! Not bloated like I am normally before AF, No tender breast though sometimes shooting pain (like a line).
Still getting poking pain in irght side and by belly button Nose stuffy this morning.

I had a positive pregnancy test the third week of July at my Dr.’s office and had an ultrasound on the 19th of August.
I have had minimal bleeding, my pregnancy symptoms have been consistent and I have been growing just as with my other pregnancies.
I ended up being pregnant 44 weeks before being induced because the baby didn’t measure at a full term pregnancy until then.
Could I have miscarried, not really known that was happening, ovulated and become pregnant again?  Or what could possibly have happened?  I have been searching for an explanation but haven’t found anything.
Now my repeat ultrasound this last week showed that I have one egg sack about 4-5 weeks along.
